Professional Liability Insurance
Professional liability insurance is there to protect an insured professional from the possibility of catastrophic financial loss due to malpractice. Malpractice occurs when the professional either does something incorrectly or fails to do something that the standards of the profession would dictate as necessary.
How does it work?
In the event a professional commits malpractice and becomes legally obligated to pay damages to a third party, the professional liability policy will defend the insured in the suit. If the insured is found liable, the policy will pay the damages, up to the liability limits of the policy, less the deductible.
